Medication Policy:
All medications to be administered in school, whether over the counter or by prescription, must be accompanied by a written prescription from the child's health care provider. Please note: we no longer can accept prescription labels for the prescriber's information. All medication, whether prescription or over the counter, must be accompanied by the school district form. The prescriber is required to complete the form. In addition, a parent/guardian must give written consent for the nurse to administer the medication to the student. The form is located on a tab on this e-board.
Please keep these important points in mind regarding medications:
1. All medications require a written order.
2. No students may take medication on his/her own, with the exception of certain life-saving medications (such as asthma inhalers). The self-administration of these medications must be prescribed by the child's health care provider, and approved by the parent and nurse. Please discuss this with the school nurse if you believe your child needs these medications.
3. No teacher may give any medication to a student.
4. The parent/guardian may always administer any medication necessary for your own child. Please come to the health office if your wish to give your child medication.
Please contact the nurse with any questions.
